This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the analysis of categorical data, with a focus on methods for handling qualitative variables. Students will explore the foundations of Binomial and Poisson sampling, and apply statistical techniques to examine relationships within categorical data. Key topics include tests of independence and odds ratios in two-way contingency tables, conditional independence, partial and marginal tables, and homogeneous association. The course also emphasizes advanced approaches such as the Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel methods, while introducing students to log-linear and logistic models. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with both theoretical understanding and practical skills essential for analyzing categorical datasets in applied research contexts.
