This course is the natural continuation of Sedimentary Petrology I, moving from basic concepts to detailed identification and interpretation of sedimentary rocks under a microscope. It is divided into two related themes: the petrography of clastic rocks (sandstones) and chemical/biochemical rocks (carbonates). Students will gain practical skills in using a petrographic microscope to identify minerals, textures, and diagenetic features, and will learn how to interpret the history of these rocks.
