This course is designed to give the students the knowledge needed to begin a clinical clerkship in general surgery. During this course, students will:

1. Have team-based learning sessions focusing on the hospital and operating room settings and sterility techniques and surgical safety and ethics.

2. Be introduced to the basic pathophysiology of surgical diseases, surgical nutrition, pre-and post-operative management and have an introductory knowledge about the common surgical conditions 

3. Participate in a group work to know the basic surgical clinical skills by performing proper history taking and physical exam on a surgical patient.
